RED MOON IN VENUS - KALI UCHIS

Blossoming into a new utopia of self awareness and irresistible bliss. Kali Uchis third studio album “Red Moon in Venus” declares that the passion for love is indeed worth the wait.

I always felt like falling in love was like walking through a field of roses, enjoying the view but also taking the time to admire the details. It’s about enjoying the ride while also establishing important standards. & On “in My Garden…” Uchis solidifies the atmosphere with a reminder to her lover while guiding us into “I Wish you Roses” a staple for the album already holding the standard that even with someone you love endlessly it’s always important to let go with being resentful. As old flames die, new ones can form.

When an album holds energy that feels aware of the environment it’s currently in, it is an unspoken blessing that most never experience. But with this project, it’s safe to say a space is created to become the guiding steps for you falling in your feels. Continuing into album, the sensual ride of the triple threat tracks 3 - 5 “Worth the Wait” & “Love Between” brings in an embrace of an intimacy everlasting while “All Mine” graciously flaunts how the deeper the love, the more solid the unit eventually becoming unbreakable.

While already displaying dazzling production and sequencing from all 15 tracks while also having fun collaborations from Summer Walker, Omar Apollo & Don Toliver. I’m sure this will be A Red Moon Summer.

As romance can become quite coastal and blantly intimate, Track 6’s “Fantasy” featuring Uchis’s beloved beau Don T’oliver, creates an essence of intensity and heat that are majestic for the duo’s third collaboration. Narrating the vision held for their relationship. To live solely in a euphoric fantasy.

With the upcoming nod to Kali’s previous sophomore album and first full Spanish LP “Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios)” on Tracks 7 & 8 we becoming to see a new form of expression. Uchis on “Como Te Quire Yo” unravels the hardships of how love isn’t always perfect but the molding is how it will always remain complete through the miraculous highs and insufferable lows. Building the sense of unconditional love that most could say challenges the narrative of dating in today’s world currently.

As we move deeper into second half of the album, some outstanding tracks for me were Track 10’s “Moral Conscience”, Track 11’s Interlude “Not Too Late” & Track’s 14 “Moonlight” all pleasurable nods to Kali’s Alternative R&B roots building on to the authentic legacy she has been building on her for the past 10 years. This an album that will appeal to a deeper level of music heads that I’m sure Kali is ready to have.

I recommend getting a listen for yourself to full embellish in the scenic sounds that is “Red Moon In Venus”.
