AN EVENING WITH SILK SONIC

say the best albums have about 10 tracks or less. (11 Max) But with the Debut Album “An Evening With Silk Sonic”, 9 is the magical number for this Afro-tastic star gazing album.

With narration from the Legendary Bootsy Collins,

And help from the peers Thundercat & Dmile on production. Silk Sonic has once again came out on top, killing the doubt that “Leave The Door Open” [Track 2] was the only standout track they would have.

On this 31-Minute Journey of True 70’s Essence,

Silk Sonic managed to do what most artist struggle with today when being inspire by an era. Creating a sound that is fresh but also still nostalgic.

From Tracks like “Fly As Me” [Track 3] & “After Last Night”, [Track 4 - a personal favorite of mine] the duo definitely shows the modern charisma and charm from today’s men of R&B while giving the true confidence & vulnerability shown by the the greats like Issac Hayes, Marvin Gaye , The Isley Brothers & of course Bootsy Collins.

It’s been said many of times that the men of R&B currently need to bring back singing in the rain, displaying themselves in an extravagant amount of pain and Silk Sonic is doing that request justice towards the Middle of the Album with “Put On A Smile”. [Track 6]

Which also adds to the greatness for the previous track, “Smokin Out The Window” [Track 5]

From #AndersonPaak ’s Drums to # BrunoMars soothing falsetto, the back to back duo pack of hits instantly creates a narrative of how a lover can bring great pain wether it’s to your wallet or you heart.

Closing out with the last 3 tracks on the album, Silk Sonic makes sure not to end on a melancholy note settling in the deep end.

Instead they gear you up for a Vegas theme ride through the night with “777” [Track 7], leading into the second single from the album “Skate” [Track 8] giving you a roll bounce feel that makes you wanna get up and shake before leading you into a ethereal conclusion that is too exquisite just to be played one time titled “Blast Off” [Track 9].

Overall, From beginning to the end, you won’t believe the arrangement of how this album came to be. From vocals, to live instruments, the narration, it’s literally a “blast off to some good vibrations” all the way to the stratosphere.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Silk Sonic.
